Visitors at Horsemanship

8 October 2009

Wednesday we had some visitors!  Natasha, Kristyn and Anne brought their horses (“Hi Lucky, Patriot and Spot!!” from me, Biscuit!Jump 1 (trimmed) 00m 01s) to Fish Bowl to do some demo riding for our Horsemanship Club kids.  The girls are all members of Olympus Pony Club.  They warmed up in the big riding field while the Farm horses watched (they looked great out there in the sunshine!), and then came into the arena and introduced themselves to the HC kids.  Kristyn started the riding demonstration by doing her musical freestyle!  Patriot looked like he really enjoyed performing a dressage ride to music, and Kristyn’s choice of music matched his gaits beautifully!  The kids clapped, they were so awed and impressed!  Then Spot and Lucky entered the ring, the kids helped Emily set up a few jumps, and the girls and their pretty paints did some very nice jumping!  The girls kindly took questions from the kids, and it was a really fun day.  Annie video’d it for all to enjoy; thanks!  Thank you to Natasha, Kristyn and Anne and their fine ponies for a great demonstration of happy riders and happy horses!  Watch the video of the riders and horses riding on the flat and over jumps.

First Frost Morning

7 October 2009

FirstFrostMorning09

Left to right:  Sherman (grey), Molly (small buckskin), Buttercup (dark buckskin), me (Biscuit)!  It was cold last night, but the moon was full and we had a great time in our new sheds in the big field.  We had a light frost, but we are all shaggy with our winter fur coats, and quite comfortable.  I am the field Queen, Buttercup is the Princess, Sherman is in charge when I’m out of the field, and Molly is everyone’s friend and in charge of no one.
