About Us

Fish Bowl Farm offers high quality instruction and horse services on Vashon Island. Since 2000, when we first offered boarding services to riders and trainers, we have strived for an enjoyable environment for horses and riders. In 2006 we began offering riding lessons on school horses for riders just starting the sport and those experienced riders without their own horse, the full circle of equestrian fun was completed:

  • professional instruction, horse and pony leasing,
  • horse/pony purchase consultation,
  • full service boarding,
  • as well as hosting other instructors and trainers at the farm for schooling and clinics.

Our team consists of owners and managers Emily & Alex Wigley.

Emily is our instructor and stable manager, and Alex is our facility manager.  Both bring outside interests and experiences to the equestrian pursuits.

Emily has experience in small and large business and as a hard working volunteer in private and public education.  She began riding while growing up in the San Francisco area and has never stopped learning since her first lessons way back when! A dressage and eventing rider, Emily is certified Level II in both Dressage and Stable Management by the American Riding Instructors Association.  A mom of two young adults, she understands and enjoys working with people of all ages.

Alex is a jack of all trades and a master of most as a former designer/builder in the remodeling field.  He is also a former ski professional, in which he spent several years teaching skiers of all levels in basics, racing and moguls.  He is sailing director at QYC/Vashon Parks sailing school in the summer, and his world class sailboat racing pursuits take him all over Puget Sound and beyond in his 10 meter boats.

Both Emily and Alex continue to ride.  Emily loves her chestnut mares:  Hanoverian-thoroughbred mare Echo, and Echo’s daughter Jynx, by Swedish stallion Amorex.  Alex’s horse, Braeburn — aka Afterburner when he’s on a tear! – is a former level 8 show jumper from New Zealand.
